I just came home from the Dubai mall after attending their Chinese New Year Event.
Today, I headed to Star Atrium to check out the Chinese Arts and Crafts, performances and other activities. I had a great time and I think most of the attendees did too.
There were a lot of activities for all ages, Chinese art is definitely something!
Just have a look at this egg carving art, the intricate details carved in a delicate eggshell seems unattainable, but look at the finished product.
Kids love the umbrella decorating activity. Participants were given a mini umbrella and they paint it with different colors and designs.
Here’s another arts and crafts that I personally love, the wood carving pen. The artist carved so many cute animals it was really great to watch one being made.
Next is something familiar, something you’ll see in chinese movies, the calligraphy art.
After checking things out, we had a Chinese tea. Nice and warm, perfect for the cold Dubai weather.
Afterwards, the stage was prepared for the performances, I love the theme they set up, it’s as if I’m in a set of a Chinese movie.
The performances started around 5:00 PM. The first one is called the Chinese Spinning Plate acrobat.
It was breathtaking and amusing at the same time. At one point, one dancer stood up on the other dancer’s shoulder while balancing six plates on both hands. It was intense, but they were all smiles all through out. The next performance was the puppet show, but not your ordinary puppet show. The puppets in this act were painting, dancing, flying and drinking. So entertaining!
Dubai mall really knows how to set up an event. Hope to see more of this next year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!
