After a year of being in the Express entry program since 2018,  my profile has expired early this year. It was really disappointing, but I was determined to join the Express Entry pool once again, so I made a new profile, turns out, it was the best decision I ever made.

  • February 25, 2019 – My first Express entry profile expired.
  • February 26, 2019 – I created a new profile.

After just eight days since I made a new profile, yes! eight days! I have received a generic email saying there were some changes in my EE online account, this does not happen often, so I was certain that there was an improvement in my application.

  • March 5, 2019 – I have received a message in my Express Entry account. This letter was the Notification of Interest from the Government of Alberta (NOI). It mentions that the Government of Alberta is interested in considering me for their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) through Express Entry.

There were instructions on the NOI letter, it says that I have to contact them directly and so I wasted no time and contacted Alberta government right away.  I sent them these information as mentioned in the letter:

  1. Express Entry Profile Number
  2. Status information about current and past AINP applications/nominations. (in my case, it was not applicable)

After sending them these information, they responded to me after just a few hours. I was not expecting a reply from them right away, and I was surprise with their efficiency. The email from them has two attachments, the AINP form and Alberta Express Entry Stream– Document Checklist. The checklist specifies the documents I have to send them by post, and the form is basically required to be filled with my information. They gave me 30 days to complete and submit my documents.

Some of the required documents from the list were already with me like the ECA, IELTS results, Employment certificates, etc. so I just had to fill several forms.

The instructions on the checklist were very straight forward and simple. I made sure I check each and every details I was providing. There are no room for mistakes because this will make or break my application. It took me fifteen days to accomplish everything, I had to check for the completeness and correctness of the information that’s why it took awhile.

March 21, 2019 – After two weeks, I sent the complete set of documents by post to the address provided by them on the checklist.

March 28, 2019 – They have acknowledged that they received my Expression of Interest Package and they provided me with a File Number.

Everything happened so fast. March 2019 was such a blur!

It was time to wait and be patient after that. Good thing I was busy with a lot of personal and work related stuff during April and I did not realize how the next four weeks have passed. And indeed, after 28 days of waiting, there was progress once again.

April 24, 2019 – I received an email with the subject ” Final Decision”. I have never, ever been that tense in my life. I was shaky, ecstatic, nervous. It was 7:00 AM that day, I have received a notification on my phone, and I know that, that was it. The attachment was password protected, and when I opened it, It said ” Confirmation of Nomination”. I was so grateful, my heart was full.

This means that I was nominated by the Province of Alberta after they have evaluated my documents. This also means I get an additional 600 points in my EE account and most likely to receive an ITA on the next draw.

It was the most exciting feeling ever. God is good!

Will post my progress on the next blog very soon!
