PART 6: A Pinay’s Express Entry Journey – Post ITA and Final Decision

25 June 2019 – ITA Documents Submission

After submitting my documents for applying the Permanent Residence, I can finally relax a little. To keep me busy, I joined several Whatsapp groups with the same timeline as mine, also some forums to keep up with the progress of other applicants, and for IRCC updates too.

29 July 2019 – Biometrics Collection Request

I submitted my ITA documents by the end of June 2019 and got an update on my account after 35 days. I received a message with instructions to provide my Biometrics at nearby collection point.

04 Aug 2019 – Biometrics Collection Appointment

I went to VFS Dubai to provide my biometrics. Here is the process I went through.

How to provide Biometrics in VFS Global Canada (DUBAI):

To check where to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) Click here.

  1. Book your appointment here :
  2. Bring a printed copy of the Instruction letter from IRCC, Appointment letter from VFS and lastly,  your original travel document (passport).
  3. Be there 15 minutes before the appointed time, your fingerprints and photo will be taken, the process will take half an hour in total depending on the queue.

19 August 2019 – IRCC Update and GCMS notes

Fifteen days passed after the biometrics date without anything. Then one fine day from “IP1″ (Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check), my profile progressed to “IP2″ (We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information)  It is an update on the profile saying the background check has started.

I was really pleased with this update. Progress is always good. However, I was also very impatient, so I ordered GCMS. To know more about the GCMS, click here.

On that same day that I ordered a GCMS, I got what they call a “ghost update”. They said that this is a good sign.

20 August 2019 – Additional Document

The next day, I send IRCC a webform. I wanted to send them an updated Bank Statement (just because I’m very studious LOL). They acknowledge the receipt of the document I send after 7 days.

30 August 2019 – PPR

Then, silence. 10 days has passed and nothing, nada, nil. I tried to divert my attention but it’s just something i think of everyday, waiting for an email update or a call perhaps. But silence is good too. It is a sign that everything is smooth sailing.

During my off, I  woke up from my afternoon nap. I had a notification on my phone. An email. Generic email, saying there is an update on my IRCC account. I got up, my heart was pounding like crazy, hands were shaky. I logged in to my IRRC account and there it was. The “golden email” or otherwise known as the “PPR”. On the subject of the letter it says, it says “Request Letter”. It is a 3 page letter requesting me to send my original passport to VAC.

02 September 2019 – Passport Submission

I went to VFS to provide them my passport. I didn’t book any appointment and just walked in. I took a token number and then waited for my number to be called. I was called by VFS officer to one of the enclosed office. I submitted to him the following:

  1. Printed PPR letter
  2. Photo (with a stamp of the Photo studio at the back)
  3. My original passport
  4. Courier Fee

He said that I will be getting the passport within two to four weeks.

11 September 2019 – Immigrant Visa and COPR Received

Today, exactly 1 year, 6 months and 18 days, I got my Permanent Resident Visa to Canada. My heart is full. To God be all the glory.
